Background

Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is a locally registered national NGO in Kenya since 2003. Our vision is “A world where everyone with poverty and disease can have life in all its fullness” and our mission is to “Support and scale up the delivery of sustainable comprehensive health services to communities through community participation and strengthened health systems”.

We have built viable, strategic, synergistic and sustainable partnerships with the National government, County Government, donors, local communities and other non-state actors to support the implementation of coordinated and comprehensive development programs. Our target beneficiaries include People Living with HIV (PLHIV), adolescent girls and young women, adolescent mothers living with HIV, Men in High-Risk Settings, children infected and affected by HIV, Key and vulnerable populations and the general population.

Mildmay currently implements the following programs; – Community HIV Prevention Care and Support, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Human Rights and Gender, and Socio-Economic Empowerment Programs that advocate for sustainable solutions to adolescent girls and young women’s vulnerabilities to HIV and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

Scope of Work

Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is seeking the services of a consultant to provide photography and videography services to document best practices, human interest stories, lessons learnt, achievements and the impact of our projects in Siaya, Vihiga and Homabay Counties.

The consultancy work will include capturing, editing and producing the above content bilingually (English/Kiswahili); knowledge of the area and local language is a must.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the program team and understand Mildmay’s program context, scope of work and expected outcomes.
• Travel to remote villages in Vihiga, Siaya, and Homabay Counties to capture field activities.
• Present an agreeable script and storyboard for the exercise after interacting with the program team.
• Capture high-resolution images and videos of MIK’s project activities in various parts of the country to provide context and impact of Mildmay’s work in Kenya.
• Perform appropriate video filming and shoot interviews with the projects’ beneficiaries and stakeholders in all Counties.
• Provide the master file of all the shoots before editing.
• Edit videos and photos by location and dates for use in various communication materials.
• Adhere to MIK’s visibility and branding guidelines.

Requirements

• Excellent technical capacities (state-of-the-art filming equipment including drone camera preferably High Definition) to ensure smooth and high-quality production
• Extensive experience in producing development work-related documents for publication and documentaries for national and international organizations to reach both local and international audiences.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in videography, with a portfolio demonstrating previous film and video creation skills.
• Experience in conducting similar assignments with other developmental and humanitarian organizations.
• Proficiency in video and photo editing.
• Bilingual skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Availability and willingness to travel to remote locations.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in remote areas.
