Mildmay International Kenya (MIK) is a registered civil society organization in Kenya since 2003, headquartered in Kisumu County.

We believe in ‘A world where everyone with poverty and disease can have life in all its fullness’. Our mission is to support and scale up the delivery of sustainable comprehensive health services to communities through community participation and strengthened health systems.

Mildmay is currently implementing a comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and support program for Adolescents and Young People in Siaya County. This program uses a safe space model that infuses Sexual and Reproductive Health(SRH) clinical services with youth-responsive leisure activities that foster a safe atmosphere for access to information on HIV /SRH /Human Rights whilst ensuring peer-to-peer approach in the delivery of all services to include community mobilization.

We are looking for a young individual with experience in delivering comprehensive youth-friendly SRH/HIV services to fill the following vacant position.

Clinical Officer – REF: MIK/GF BONDO/001/2023

Station: Bondo Sub County
Reports to: Site in Charge

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide Sexual and Reproductive Health/HIV, bio-medical, behavioural, and structural services at the Bondo Youth Wellness Centre and during community outreaches targeting Adolescents and young people (AYP) as per the National Guidelines/standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and institute effective clinical procedures which are consistent with national guidelines and observe legal and statutory requirements in all situations.
  • Ensure that the agreed program targets are met within the agreed timelines.
  • Ensure efficiency and safety of Program assets at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of all AYP accessing services at the Youth Wellness Centre (YWC) by adhering to our Prevention of Sexual, Exploitation and Abuse (PSEAH) policy at all times.
  • Ensure clients’ rights to access services without discrimination are upheld at all times when handling beneficiaries.
  • Ensure that healthcare services are friendly, integrated, responsive to the needs of AYPs and offered at convenient times
  • Ensure initiation and continuum of care for all AYPs eligible for PrEP.
  • Ensure that all clients who test Positive are linked and initiated on ART and followed up for continued VL Monitoring.
  • Ensure that all AGYW are screened for cervical cancer and appropriately referred for follow up
  • Plan and conduct Monthly YWC-based Continuous Medical Education sessions for the clinical team.
  • Ensure proper commodity management; including proper documentation in the Bin Cards, lockable drug cabinets, filling of delivery notes etc.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents-site level reports are submitted to the centre–in–charge within agreed timeframes.
  • Perform any other duties that the supervisor may assign from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • Be registered with Kenya Clinical Officers Association with the current practice license.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
  • Training and knowledge in HIV care, management, and youth-friendly services is essential.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Have shown competence and ability in organizing, performing and discharging duties and responsibilities
  • Those with additional training in GBV/PrEP/AYP programming will have an added advantage
  • Training and practical experience in AYP responsive interventions will have an added advantage.
